Designing your packaging on a template allows you to be as creative as you like. Designing a dieline is as critical as the packaging itself because it is the foundation of the whole packaging manufacturing process.
If you are unaware of the die-line or what it looks like, you can download the die-line template from here.
To make sure that nothing goes wrong while designing your die-line template, please consider following the steps below:
The first step in creating a die-line template is setting up the document you will be working on.
Step 1: Open Adobe Illustrator → Press Ctrl+O (to open existing documents file) → A window will appear.
Step 2: Select the desired artwork file you want to work on →. Open it.
The second step is to select the layer you want to work on & here’s how you can do it.
Step 1: Go to the window that is located at the top right of the screen.
Step 2: Select the second option, “Layers.”
Step 3: Lock all the layers and leave the one you’re going to work on.
The next step that helps in creating a perfect template is selecting the CMYK Color Mode
As shown in the image below, it begins with
Step 1: Open File From Menu Bar → Drop Down Menu Will Appear.
Step 2: Select Document Color Mode
Step 3: Select CMYK Color from it
By doing so, the tab of your document will indicate CMYK Preview.
To make sure your design looks its best, always double-check that your images and text are facing the correct way as per the orientation guides. The best way to test it is to print it out at home and fold it together.
Before starting to work on your artwork, there is something that you just need to follow, such as guidelines for general artwork.
Alternatively, artwork can be transferred from another file or created on the die-line.
Include bleeds if you want to put your artwork on the box edges as well; however, if you want a white border, the artwork should not exceed the cutting lines.
It is mandatory to outline all texts.
To ensure the best results, please ensure that all images are embedded in the document before sending; this will ensure the highest level of quality and accuracy.
To add Pantone colors, follow the following steps.
Go to Swatches → Select Color Book → Pantone → CMYK Coated.
Now you can choose your desired Pantone colors, but avoid using the left & right arrow keys; it might result in changing the color option. Further, you can select up to 4 Pantone colors at a time.
Please add your Pantone color at the bottom of your artwork before sending it to us.
Now the only step that is left is to save your file and send it to us for approval. To save the file, you can press Ctrl+S.
Alternatively, you can save your files as packages by following the given steps:
Step 1: Go to the menu bar and click files. Drop Down Menu Will Appear
Step 2: Select Package. A window box will appear.
Step 3: Set the location path where you want your file to be saved. And select all the options from the options section. Click on the package.
This way, you can save your file as a package consisting of all the layers you have worked on. After you’re done saving your PSD/AI file, you can send it directly to us for quick approval.
